Helloooooooo Summer!
Inspired by the trendy infused water craze and our recent sweltering weather, I decided to whip up a few recipes of my own. I filled one quart mason jars with the ingredients listed below and then topped each jar with filtered water. Then, I left the jars in the refrigerator overnight. Shake the jars well before drinking. Some turned out more flavorful than others but I enjoyed them all. And that says a lot since I am not a water-loving guzzler. Hope you find these refreshing and enjoyable.
Lemon Mui Infused Water
1/2 cucumber, sliced
lemon, sliced
mint
Li hing mui, sliced
This one was my favorite! The cucumber adds a refreshing taste that I love.
Lemon Blueberry Infused Water
lemon, sliced
Sprig of rosemary
Handful of blueberries
I was afraid the rosemary would be too powerful, but I could barely taste it. I would add more rosemary and squeeze half a lemon next time.
Orange Shiso Infused Water
orange, sliced
Handful of blueberries
2-3 shiso leaves
Since shiso goes with orange in savory recipes, I added shiso leaves for color and flavor.
Cucumber Berries Infused Water
4 strawberries, sliced
Handful of blueberries
1/2 cucumber, sliced
Beautiful and colorful, but this one had the least flavor.
Citrus Splash Infused Water
lemon, sliced
lime, sliced
Sprig of rosemary
I thought I would try a total citrus one, but the rind really dominated. To tone it down, I would recommend adding the juice of half a lemon to the water.
How are you cooling down this summer?
