Quick Tip: Easiest Way to Remove Coffee Stains from Your Mug

For some reason, my co-worker’s 8-month-old coffee mug is tarnished with stubborn, dark coffee stains. I see it every day and all this time I thought he never washed it.

Turns out he has. But even with hot water and dishwashing soap, he couldn’t remove those unpleasant stains.

Then, one day I came across an article from HGTV magazine that said simple table salt easily removes coffee stains. Whaaat?! I was up to the challenge.

Using a dry paper towel, I rubbed about 2 tablespoons of regular salt on the stained mug.

Then I washed it with hot water and dishwashing liquid.

Taa daa!

Okay, it’s not totally like new. But this is the closest to “like new” it’s been in months.

Thank you for your comment! I would have never thought salt had so much cleaning power. Everyone has it in their home so this is so easy to do.
