Bringing together stories, rooms, life.

Is Shabby Chic?

One of the things I love to do is incorporate family treasures in my home. With the holidays approaching, this is the best time to honor and create memories for our family.
Furniture is not just functional. It can have a lot of sentimental value too. My friend Candace told me a story about her Grandmother’s chair that their family inherited. Although the style was a little dated and different from the rest of her furniture, it reminded Candace of a happy time in her life and she was not willing to part with it.
Including a family heirloom in your home is a wonderful way to honor the past and create treasured memories. These pieces enrich our lives and are heartwarming reminders of a special someone that forever touched us.
If you are fortunate enough to inherit family treasures, don’t buried them in deep storage or hide them in the closet. Embrace them! Let your home showcase what means the most to you and your family. The most interesting rooms rise up to meet you with an abundance of warmth and character.
“You will be surrounded by beauty because I think your house should rise up to meet you every single day.” – Oprah Winfrey
