Easy Organizational Apps for the Novice

Don’t laugh, but up to two years ago I had a flip phone. iPhone 6 was my first smart phone so I’m relatively new to the app world.

That being said, I feel very inexperienced to write on the topic of organizational apps. But I am qualified to give you an opinion from a real-life novice wanting to improve my organizational skills.

For Shopping

One of my favorite apps is myShopi. It’s a no-frills shopping app that creates checklists that I can easily use when I run errands.

You can customize your list to the stores you shop at regularly. Then add any item you need to buy. The app organizes the items by aisle and even adds a cute picture with each item.

For the Home

My go-to app for decorating, crafting, gardening, DIY, and general inspiration is pinterest. I can (and have) spent hours browsing at beautiful pictures. There is no better place to stir creativity and get oodles of great ideas than pinterest.

I just starting using brightnest after reading good reviews about this app. So far I found it to be very user-friendly, clean, and packed full of interesting, yet quick-read articles about cleaning and organizing the home. The pictures are pretty and the advice seems easy enough, that I find myself really wanting to clean just to see if it works.

For Reading

I love reading magazines, but I don’t like the clutter of past issue piling up in every room. So I was pleased to discover zinio, the world’s largest digital newsstand. According to their website, zinio has more than 6,000 online magazines and 10 million customers. Although I never got past the Martha Stewart April issue, I look forward to using this app more in the future.

For Note-taking

If you want to move away from doodling on quarter sheets of paper all the time, this may be the app for you. Everyone loves evernote and although I haven’t really gotten the hang of it yet, I’m hoping to be a frequent user soon.

With more than 1.5 million apps available to download, you just have to find the ones that work for you. If you have one to suggest, let me know.
